I can’t get enough of this bike. Everything has been considered in terms of making it as light as possible, look at it! It’s pretty darn ugly with it’s imperfections but in ways also quite beautiful.
I read that the aero bars attached to the front of this machine are completely custom and they took Obree himself three months to whittle down from a solid piece of aluminium. Now that’s what I am talking about. Simply brilliant.
Thanks Hardysan for the linkage.

I spotted this Trek, this morning and after reading some Trek written spiel it’s advantages I promptly gave up reading anymore. It was all a little bit too much “wind tunnel” talk for me. I then saw this great comment on Bike radar from one Mr Igamogam, which read:
Personally, I think the UCI should take a new tack and abandon the TT bike. All the recent efforts to make bikes more “marketable and rideadable” are silly if you continue to allow TT specific bikes. To ordinary cyclists the development of TT bikes has reached a stage where there is very little useful benefit. The whole concept of the specialised TT rig encourages a technological arms race which is to say the least a little bizarre. It’s no longer about the rider but the bike…
If riders had to ride their normal RR bikes with no aero helmets or tri-bars it would make very little difference to who would win the TTs (it would still be the best “testers” – but slower times) but at least the machines would have some similarity to normal bikes.
The setting of the “athlete”s record for the hour was an opportunity to mark a return to normal bikes for TTs but it was frittered away by the UCI. Perhaps it’s time to step back and let riders race on bikes not cut down formula one cars?
Such a great point.

This is the beast known as the Rafael r-011. The detail that get’s me is the aero bottle at the front of the bicycle… That is a great concept right there.
Read more about the r-o11 at Bicycle Design.

I have posted on this subject before here but after seeing the following frame I feel it has gotten worse.

Is that Killorado BMX not simply ridiculous? Just take a look at the length of the seat-tube for the answer.
This guy sums it it pretty good:
The worst offender in this regard, of course, is Blackeye’s Cory Jarman, whose signature frame, the Killorado is an abomination against everything ever. It looks like a stripped-down girls bike from Toys R Us. I know he does 180 whips down stairs, but it’s ridiculous for the same reason it would be if someone hit 2,000 home runs while using a special aluminum/carbon bat. I hesitate to call it cheating, but it’s pretty freaking lame.
