Chromed out.

July 15, 2009

Brick lane Bikes, the store everybody loves to hate has just got these in. The chrome is the one for me here and also quite a good alternative to anyone looking for and not finding a set of NOS Rigida DP18.

Kevin, perhaps this is what you have been waiting for?

Seen over at Rotterdam Fixed.

H plus Son.

July 2, 2009

Looks like H plus son have dropped a not so deep rim onto the market… Currently only available in Black and with a 32 hole drilling.

These might prove a nice alternative to the popular Velocity Deep V but I guess only time will tell.

H plus Carbon.

June 9, 2009

H Plus Son has made a mark for themselves over the past year with their 42mm deep aluminum rims, one of the deepest section rims available until Velocity released the B43 just a few weeks back, which is just killer millimeter deeper. Shown here is a prototype H Plus Son Formation Face rim with a carbon overlay applied to an aluminum shell. The aluminum versions are lighter than the B43 by 150-200g, there is no word however on actual weight, price or if the carbon version will ever be available for retail purchase. hplussoncarbon2There is no doubt that the H Plus Son rims are lookers, attracting attention no matter what with the carbon version upping the ante as far as exotic rims go. Time will tell if there will ever be more than a handful of this version out in the world.

My 32 hole Campag Lambda clinchers came for the Raleigh today.

These babies will be getting laced to some shiny Suzue Promax hubs TONIGHT! Only the rear for now though as I am completely besotted with my DP18 and nothing at this point will get me to remove it.

Speaking of rims.

Dodici. Now available at Tokyo Fixed Gear.

Eero, the new rim from H Plus Son is a deep section rim designed to take abuse. Expect the same high quality workmanship you find on Formation Face and SL42.

So as Velocity release the B43 and the Chukker H+Son are soon to release the Eero. Now I know nothing about this rim other than what is written up there but I have no doubt that this rim will be hella strong and hella swish.

More info soon.

About time too.

H plus Sons got a website.

Go peep.

Spotlight on…

April 9, 2009

These guys from Italy have some pretty cool products for sale on their blogspot.

I was alerted to Dodici while hunting around for rims a while back and I came across their super deep aero section prototype rim.

Now it appears these are for sale in the same colour options of H plus Sons – Black, White or Silver and at 60 euros each they are in pretty much the same price bracket as the aforementioned H plus sons but having never owned nor ridden on either rim I couldn’t comment on which is better so I guess we will just have to wait and see.

They also do some fresh looking steel frames with a real neat seat binding mechanism, however, petty as it may be I really do not like the head badge. I think if you are going to do this ( you know, making traditional looking steel track-esque frames ) then you should at least strive to get all of the finer details ironed out right? Just my opinion and sorry for the hate! Apart from that Dodici is looking good.

Velocity Wide Vs.

April 7, 2009

After many folks who ride 700cmx had smashed their rims doing grinds, gaps, and 180s the call was to get Velocity to bring something a little beefier, a little wider.

Here it is, the Velocity Chukker. at 2mm wider than a standard Deep V those people intent on doing bunny hops down sets of stairs need fear not as finally they can put on those 700x35c tyres they have been itching to and hopefully gain more bounce for their ounce.

This is handy

Just found this link while snooping around on the interweb.

Got a rim and Hub but no spokes?
Dont fancy calling up your LBS for advice they cant or wont give?

A super handy spoke length calculator that features most of the popular rim and hub choices for fixed wheelers.
