Essential item No.1. The Rapha+Paul Smith shirt.

July 27, 2011

I love this shirt, It’s fantastic. Since I first laid my hands on my Rapha+Paul Smith windproof shirt I have been using it nonestop, bar the washing.

This smart, highly technical jacket/shirt hybrid is made from the same fabric as the Rapha Wind Jacket. It has a water-resistant treatment to repel sudden showers and when paired with a Rapha base layer, is all you need for fast summer riding in town.

Seriously, it’s all of that and then some. The versatility of this shirt is second to none and that, my friends pleases me. I have it on right now, back from a short cycle ride to my local store, complete with a sweet potato and a packet of couscous in the rear pockets. I love it. I can now leave the bag at home.

Rapha.

‘Very Well’ Ts. Gone.

June 20, 2011

Thanks to all that placed orders for the ‘Very Well’ T over the weekend. Once again I’m very happy to say that they sold out… apart from one XL, who wants it!?

A small selection is still available at Ideal skate supply in the UK and also Endless in Victoria, Australia.

All web orders have now been shipped and buyers should receive Wednesday at the latest.

Thanks again and hold tight for Spinwell Projects No.4… coming very soon!

Spinwell Projects Export. Australia.

June 14, 2011

Spinwell Projects are now available to buy in Australia, Victoria to be precise, at Endless Pedal, a fantastic high-end cycle store / gallery space.

While on the subject of galleries I’d also like to make a mention of Endless’ latest exhibition featuring none other than Tim Kolln showing his ‘Peloton’ series. So if you are near Victoria make sure you go check it out this Thursday 16th and pick up a t-shirt while you are there too.

The Re-Up is coming.

June 10, 2011

Yup. Those that missed out last time on the hyper-strike ‘Very Well’ T will be pleased to know that they’re back… real soon.

I’v also recently been busy with project number 4 and that’ll hopefully be dropping over the next few weeks too, so hold tight and get yer wallets braced!

Rollapaluza edit. Birmingham heats.

May 17, 2011

It’s taken me an age to get my head around this movie lark and that coupled with a dying mac has had me in bits of late, but in between panic and a lot of hand gestures and shouting I managed to squeeze this quick edit out. I hope you like it, and especially my Birmingham peoples!

Shot during the Midlands Rollapaluza heats in Birmingham, April 2011.

At the end of the night Tom Gillespie won in fine style, beating his opponent Marcus by 3 seconds over 1000m.

Peep the results.

Lomo for iPhone. Spinwell Projects Peek.

May 9, 2011

All the facets are in and a bunch of samples are made… Now I just have to abuse them and then make a final decision on colour then they will be available.

Any ideas on what they’ll be? If you don’t yet know, all I’ll say is: If you ride a bike, you’ll probably need one!

More info soon!

1000.

January 3, 2011

For those who have been counting, and for those who have not, this happens to be SPINWELL’s 1000th post! Yes, we made it.

In the words of Rick James himself – “It’s a celebration!”

I am Fatty.

January 3, 2011

I had substituted cycling for eating. Over the festive period I ate too much of everything and drank like a freed convict with a Wetherspoons voucher.

It’s fair to say that the weather round here got so bad and my work got so busy that I haven’t been on my bike at all in the past month, so as you can imagine, my belly has swelled and my muscles feel as supple as a piece of wood.

Neverthess, the show must go on and I am here to say that Spinwell is back. I am off the chocolates and bottles of sailor jerry’s and back on my bike. Rejoice!

So, I know it may be a bit late for a recap being 2011 and all but I really wanted to say thank you to everyone who came here in 2010 and read my drivel, here’s to more of the same in 2010!

Hold tight for more projects from the ‘Well’ Brand and a bunch of cycling trips too, back to my spiritual home of mainland Europe… can’t wait.

2011 – Let’s go.

Spinwell in Le Francais GQ.

December 19, 2010

Last Friday I had a pleasant surprise, by way of a January 2011 issue of Le Francais GQ magazine landing on my doormat at 9:15 in the morning. I flicked through it and straight to the L’Eroica piece. My pal Matthew Sparkes, tash and all on one page and a few of my words on the other. Buzzing!

Fancy a read? Head over to the Rock n Rollin’ Cycling team for hi-res scans!

Spinwell Projects No.4 – Coming soon.

November 8, 2010

Here is a photograph of my man Hardy, of Macchina beginning a prototype of what will soon become Spinwell Projects No.4.

It’s a long way off but we are on our way. Hold tight.

Spinwell visits Reynolds.

October 19, 2010

Think of Reynolds and most will instantly think of 531, the tube of choice for racing bikes over countless years and not to mention the numerous tour wins that were gained aboard this cro-moly steel pipe. Since 1958 up until the modern day, the Reynolds butted tubeset has dominated the roads, Anquetil, Merckx, and Hinault all used Reynolds exclusively in their Tour victories. Now there’s an accolade.

I was recently lucky enough to be offered a bit of time to walk around the Reynolds factory and to have a quick chat with the MD about all things Reynolds and what came clear at my 45 minute mini tour was that Reynolds are still as passionate about the metal tube as they have always been. I may sound surprised at this but I really was, I honestly thought I’d be greeted by super high tech billion pound machines churning out carbon for motorbikes but what I actually saw looked like it hadn’t changed since Reynolds began in 1898. L’Eroica 2010.

September 30, 2010

Yup. That’s it. Tonight I leave for L’Eroica 2010 and I am now at a level of almost hysteric frenzy.

Expect plenty of words and photographs this weekend as I blog and tweet ‘live’ from La Caravan do Coq in Chianti and also a full report upon my return.

Have a great weekend folks and good luck to ‘our boys’ in this weekend’s world road champs.

Winner.

September 24, 2010

That’s it folks. There were many, many entries to win the luxury taste the difference Red Spinwell musette but there could always be only one winner. That winner is Raymond Hanstein of Philadelphia. Congratulations Raymond, it’s on it’s way to you. Commiserations to the rest of you but fear not however, there will be more comps!

In it to Win it.

September 20, 2010

The lines are now closed so to speak. I have had hundreds of entries but there can be only one winner… Will it be you?

As soon as I have pulled the name from the proverbial hat you will all be put out of your misery. Check back later this week to find out who the lucky boy,or girl is.

Good luck everyone!

September 14, 2010

Yes that’s right. WIN! a super limited Spinwell Musette.

However this time it features a slightly heavier gauge Red canvas with the ‘feed well’ screen print appearing discreetly in Red and lest we forget the luxury satin piping on the interior. It’s like a ‘taste the difference’ Spinwell Musette.

One of only five made this is your chance to grab a little bit of Wellness for absolutely nothing, nowt, nada! All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is:

Get in-touch using the ‘Email me’ tab over to the right and tell me your name. That’s it. Easy!

The winning entrant will then be contacted via email.

GET INVOLVED AND GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Atticus took this.

August 18, 2010

Lovely shot Atticus, thanks for sending it over. The Very Well T is still looking great as ever!

The man named Atticus also has a good online presence, peep his Tumblr here and his Flickr spot here.

Thanks again.

August 3, 2010

Absolute repost but still an amazing clip.

Thought I’d post it as the Spinwell projects No.3 has now come to end with the last bunch of musettes off to the post office yesterday.

This clip, as reminded by Gareth Davies puts into perspective the use and beauty of the small, simple cotton bag.

Thanks again to everyone who bought a musette and hold tight for Project No.4.
